You don't have elements that have a sort of... power over others?

It's not too dissimilar in some ways. I'm not a full mage, so I wouldn't expect to be able to best a mage in a battle. I could hold my own, sure, but in terms of put magical strength they're going to be step above me. But I also have a sword, and they don't.

Not really. You can put out fire with with water I suppose, but the other person could force the water away from the fire if your will is stronger.

My specialty is in 'control'. I don't have a very large sfeer- er, that's the range in which you can create and control reactions. Mine only extends out about three meters from me, whereas most people can affect a much larger area. But within that area right around me, I have near absolute control. Taking over someone else's reactions is far easier than starting one, so that is what I typically do.

It's only really useful defensively, though.

So, if someone was reaching in to punch you, you could force the trajectory of their punch to change? That sort of thing?

Children can be feisty if they want to be. But, no, the streets were not amok with the sounds of children fighting each other in the streets.

It's probably for the best. Children can be quite loud.

My son is well-behaved and growing up to be a proper gentleman. All other children are annoying, until they reach at least 12 or so.

Merchant family. Not quite nobility, though occasionally the prettier girls will marry a third or fourth son of a noble family.

Extremely so.

Yeah, that's definitely something the nobiliy are obsessed with back home too. It's more complicated than planning the tide of a battle, the way they pop out kids and arrange marriages for them to make sure their crests and bloodlines pass on to the next generation.

It's be impressive, if it just flat out wasn't.

And the moment someone doesn't want to participate in their marriage games, they're "breaking up the family" and "aren't loyal."

I wonder how many of those arranged marriages actually pan out for anything other than passing on the blood line.
