Nobles want to pass down more than just legacy and blood, so most of them marry traditionally. But trust me, a lot of them aren't entirely attracted to the opposite gender.

If you overthink it you'll start thinking I'm talking about some kind of paradise, and I'm really, really not. Some people hide their preferences away under lock and key, because of things like inheritance, lineage and the family name too.

[He looks down over their balcony, and he points to a long, skinny boat in a nearby canal.]

Well it does have to navigate narrow canals, so yes.

Makes sense. You know how to use one of these?

[ there's a oar, from what he can see? but i doubt an italian style gondola has any kind of oar yuri has seen before. ]

[Nope, because the canals are like 5 feet deep in some places and they literally use a stick to push the boats along. But Luca does know how to use it, so he'll take up the stick once he's in the gondola. But then he'll also offer out his hand to help Yuri in.]
